As we get ready to enter our 26th year of serving the visitors to Durango and the greater Southwest, Gateway Reservations is excited to show off our brand new look! After many years with the quintessential aspen tree logo, we decided that we needed to get with the times and take on a fresh new look to match our long history of destination vacation planning services. After all, most of us don’t still have the same look in the kitchen as we did in 1986 right?!

So after much deliberation, time, and development, we have a brand new look and feel for the Gateway Reservations brand. Drumroll please….

We think that this logo does a great job of communicating the wide variety of services that we provide, encompassing the mountain destinations that are our homes and the feeling of putting your mark on the map with the iconic map marker feel! Spring is Finally Here

So yes, it is snowing today, April 9. However that is spring time in Colorado for you. In less then one month the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will start it’s 2013 summer excursions. Soon after the snow will be melting rapidly in the San Juans and the Animas river will be willing us to hop aboard her rapids for some much anticipated spring time water fun. The ATV’s and Jeeps are coming out of their winter slumber ready to tackle the back country trails in the majestic Weminuche wilderness. 2012 U.S. Capital Christmas Tree in Durango!

The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will be on display as it travels across the country on a 23-day tour of 27 communities across Colorado and the country before it arrives in the nation’s capital. The truck transporting the tree will be surrounded by a banner that people can sign with holiday wishes to the nation. Durango is one of the stops along the tour this year! Why not come visit us this Friday, November 9th to see our nation’s tree, and while your here stay a couple of days to see all of our beautiful sites in our area as well. There is still Lots to do in Durango

So the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has run its last trip to Silverton for the season and the slopes have not opened yet. This doesn’t mean you have to stay home and wait for something fun to come your way. Why not visit Durango now? With the summer crowds gone it is a great time for a getaway! Stop by for a few days and visit Mesa Verde National park. This is a perfect time of year to explore the ruins, and you will have plenty of time to sit a spell and just enjoy the quietness of the area or the wildlife passing by.

You could also take a short 20 minute drive over to Ignacio, Co. to visit our new Southern Ute Heritage Center. Take a self-guided tour through the permanent gallery to explore the history and culture of the Southern Ute through your own eyes. Once your tour is over walk on over to Sky Ute Casino to try your luck at the slots, a couple of games of bowling, or some mean games of bingo. Sky Ute Casino also has great restaurants to meet any tastes. Before you leave our beautiful area why not take an hour or two to soak at Trimble Hot Springs. Durango Colorado Fall Activities

Fall is in the air! Durango is the perfect place to experience fall colors whether you want a romantic getaway or an adventure in the foliage.

Nothing is more romantic then riding the historical Durango and Silverton Train in the mountains amid the foliage. Durango loves a street festival and they continue into the fall. Saturday the 22^ndand Sunday the 23^rd the Durango Art Center is hosting the 18^th annual Autumn Arts Festival; 80 artists will be there with a food court and local beer.
