What is Central Reservations?
One core of the Gateway Reservations business model is providing comprehensive Central Reservation services to Destination Marketing Organization's (DMO). Central Reservations (CenRes) is a service that aggregates all of the various tourism related supply for a destination into a single call to action which allows potential visitors to compare rates, amenities and availability and customize a vacation itinerary. However, CenRes is more than that because it also serves as a sales tool, designed to take the demand generated by a DMO's marketing efforts and convert that demand into tangible and measurable bookings while committing the guest to the destination during their planning stages.

What is a DMO?
A Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) is a tourism organization that is responsible for the promotion and marketing of a specific destination. DMO's are often organizations such as a Chamber of Commerce, a Tourism Office or a sub-committee of some other governmental agency which manages the lodging tax revenues for a community. When a community collects a lodging tax for a stay at an accommodation, such as a hotel or motel, those funds are typically used specifically to help further market tourism to that destination, in essence creating a self-sustaining tax base.
Often, a DMO will serve multiple functions for a community, especially when the Chamber of Commerce manages the lodging tax revenues, because it is responsible not only to promote tourism to a destination, but also to help promote business interests as well as economic growth and vitality. Many destinations utilize a Central Reservations service in order to help streamline their processes, minimize overhead expenses and create an easy, "one call books it all" reservations solution for guests, tourism suppliers (i.e. hotels, activity providers, etc.) and the DMO.
