The next morning, get ready for a unique adventure aboard the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad taking you for your one-night stay over in the historic mining town of Silverton. On the 3rd day, you will once again board the train to head back to the charm and character of Durango for your final nights stay.

Description: Your first and third nights you'll stay at your choice of Durango partner lodging options, from downtown charm to budget friendly motels. Take in the cool summer evenings and the historic charm of Durango and enjoy one of our world-class restaurants or even a fun and entertaining evening dinner show at the Henry Strater Theatre.
The next morning you'll ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, which winds through the spectacular and breathtaking canyons in the remote wilderness of the two million acre San Juan National Forest. You will relive history with the sights and sounds of yesteryear on this 1882 adventure from Durango to Silverton, Colorado. The coal-fired, steam-operated locomotives are maintained in their original 1923-1925 vintage condition. In Durango, take time to enjoy the Railroad Museum, located in the rail yard roundhouse featuring full-size locomotives, maps, photos, artwork, memorabilia, and authentic collectibles. While in Silverton, visit the Freight Yard Museum at the depot to learn about the history of the Rio Grande Railway as a freight line.
In Silverton, you will check into your choice of the Grand Imperial Hotel or the Teller House Hotel. The Grand Imperial has a restaurant in the hotel that serves a great breakfast and dinner, featuring American and Mexican dishes. The Teller House offers spacious Victorian lodging in downtown Silverton with a great breakfast. Silverton is a historic mining town offers breathtaking mountain scenery, many restaurants, and quaint shops to browse.
The following day, you will return to Durango early evening in time to enjoy a fabulous dinner in town and your final night at your Durango lodging option.
