Durango & Silverton Train - Fares, Schedules & Classes of Service

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad offers a variety of classes of service and different car types. To help you understand the differences between each car as well as classes of service, we have put together a brief description of each car below as well as included pictures of each car, seating charts and more to help you pick the perfect ride for your Durango Train journey. We have also provided a Durango Train Schedules and Fares listing below to help you identify rates, train schedules and each cars corresponding departure time.

Durango & Silverton Train Cars, Seating Charts and Pictures:

 The Open Gondola - (All Ages) ~ Enjoy seating in the open-air gondola which enjoys the most unobstructed views and bench-style seating accommodates three across and the car is open air around the sides with a roof over top. Due to our natural mountainous setting and changes in weather, dressing in layers is strongly encouraged. Click here to view pictures of the Open Gondola Car and a Seating Chart.
The Vintage Closed Car - (All Ages) ~ Enjoy the standard class seating which is the standard width of an economy class airplane seat and similarly includes one aisle seat and one window seat. San Juan Car - (12 Yrs +) ~ Travel in comfort and style aboard a reconfigured version of the famous "San Juan." This distinctive closed-vestibule coach from 1887 features roomy, reversible, overstuffed seating in a wide three-across arrangement. Rio Grande Car - (12 Yrs +) ~ Relax in a roomier, adult atmosphere aboard this open-air observation gondola. This class features comfortable and larger overstuffed seats with more expansive viewing windows. Passengers receive a complimentary souvenir mug to fill in the concession car. The Prospector Car - (All Ages) ~ This deluxe class car accepts all ages for families that want to enjoy additional comfort. This car features table and chair style seating, an attendant and includes a souvenir mug and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages throughout the trip. Silver Vista Car - (16 Yrs +) ~ The Silver Vista offers magnificent overhead mountain views as this is the only narrow gauge, glass-roofed observation car. Oversized seats offer the most legroom of any car on the line. A private outdoor viewing platform is also exclusive to this class. Alamosa Parlor Car - (21 Yrs +) ~ Built in 1881, the renowned Alamosa Parlor Car features table and chair lounge-style seating. An exclusive outdoor viewing platform is available to this car's 24 passengers. Parlor Car includes a full cash bar and private attendant. Cinco Animas - (21 Yrs +) ~ The Victorian splendor of a bygone era awaits you onboard two of the most legendary and historic private cars to ever grace the narrow gauge rails. The Cinco Animas both offer two distinctively appointed seating options including Pullman and Parlor seating. A large outdoor viewing platform is exclusively available to those who choose this class as well as an attendant and a cash bar. The Nomad - (21 Yrs +) ~ Built in 1878. The Victorian splendor of a bygone era awaits you onboard two of the most legendary and historic private cars to ever grace the narrow gauge rails. The Nomad offers two distinctively appointed seating areas, plus the Nomad also features a stateroom for four. The Knight Sky - (All Ages) ~ Step aboard the newest Flagship car of the D&SNGRR! This all-ages open-air car offers amazing panoramas through the UV-protected glass paneled roof combined with the extravagance of roomy, reclining, leather-trimmed seating as well as Presidential Class services including an attendant, souvenir tote bag and mug, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages all day and a morning pastry. Charter Train - For your special event, you can charter a private train car for an unforgettable experience. All Private Cars are rented exclusively to the booking party. Each car is connected to the end of the train and there is no walk-through traffic. These cars are chartered based on availability of the specific car and train availability. Summer / Fall  - Train up/ Bus Return Schedule

Enjoy the beautiful ride on the Train to Silverton, a 2 hour layover in Silverton then return to durango aboard a D&SNGRR motor coach along 52 miles of the San Juan Scenic Byway.

FARES: Add $17 to Standard and Deluxe Class train ticket fare. Please note: to add the bus upgrade, simply select the Bus Departure / Bus Return Upgrades option and add one "Bus Upgrades ~ Bus From Silverton To Durango" item per person to your itinerary.

*Add the bus to your Presidential or First Class train ticket at no additional charge.*

Enjoy the morning aboard a D&SNGRR motor coach traveling to Silverton along 52 miles of San Juan Scenic Byway. The morning bus allows guests 3 hours in Silverton before the train departs.
