The Open-Air Gondola – (All Ages) – Enjoy seating in the open-air to take advantage of unobstructed views. With a roof overhead, bench-style seating accommodates five and faces the open sides of the train car. Due to our natural mountainous setting and unpredictable changes in weather, dressing in layers is strongly encouraged.

The Vintage Closed Car – (All Ages) – Enjoy the standard class seating which is the industry standard width of an economy class plane seat and similarly includes one aisle seat and one window seat. Oversized windows open and close and are great for viewing scenery.

Historic Narrated Coach – (All Ages) ~ Enjoy the scenery of the San Juan National Forest in the a standard closed coach while listening to a costumed character tell stories and provide history of the historic railroad and life in the 1880s. Each leg of your journey will have a different narrator and story to tell. Each seat has an aisle and window seat and accommodates two people. The windows open and close and allow for great viewing of your beautiful surroundings.

San Juan Narrated Car – (Ages 12+ Only) – Travel in comfort and style aboard a reconfigured version of the famous “San Juan” while a costumed train employee narrates the history of the train and tells stories of life in the 1880s. This distinctive closed coach from 1887 features roomy, reversible, overstuffed seating in a wide three-across arrangement. Passengers receive a complimentary souvenir mug to fill in the concession car.

Rio Grande Car – (Ages 12+ Only) – Relax in a roomier, adult atmosphere aboard this open-air observation gondola. This class features comfortable and larger overstuffed seats with more expansive viewing windows. Passengers receive a complimentary souvenir mug to fill in the concession car.

First Class Seating

The Prospector Car – (All Ages) – This first-class class car is ideal for families that want to enjoy additional comfort. This car features table and chair style seating, an attendant, and includes a souvenir mug and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages throughout the trip. The ceiling of the car also features an enlarged route map so you can follow the train’s progress along the route.

Silver Vista Train Car
Silver Vista Car – (Ages 12+ Only) – The Silver Vista offers magnificent overhead mountain views from its glass-roofed observation car. Oversized seats offer the most leg room of any car on the line. A private outdoor viewing platform is also exclusive to this class. This is an open-air car, so please be prepared for cooler mountain temperatures and possible changes in weather.

Private Viewing Deck From the Parlor Car
Alamosa Parlor Car – (Ages 21+ only) – Built in 1881, the renowned Alamosa Parlor Car features table and chair lounge-style seating. An exclusive outdoor viewing platform is available to this car’s 24 passengers. Parlor Car includes a full cash bar and private attendant.

The Knight Sky – (Ages 12+ Only) – Step aboard the newest Flagship car of the D&SNGRR! This open-air car offers amazing panoramas through the UV-protected glass paneled roof combined with the extravagance of roomy, reclining, leather-trimmed seating as well as First Class services including an attendant, souvenir tote bag and mug, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages all day and a morning pastry.

Yankee Girl Exterior
The Yankee Girl – (Ages 21+ Only) – Originally built in 1880 and having undergone several rebuilds over the next 134 years, this car debuts in 2014 as the “Yankee Girl,” named after the largest mine in the Red Mountain Mining District north of Silverton, Colorado. It has undergone a complete remodel focused on maintaining the old-fashioned flair of the 1880s while providing the comfort and conveniences of the 21st century. Car attendant available to serve beverages.

Presidential Class Seating

Cinco Animas Presidential Car
Cinco Animas – (Ages 21+ Only) – The Victorian splendor of a bygone era awaits you on board one of the most legendary and historic private cars to ever grace the narrow gauge rails. The Cinco Animas offers two distinctively appointed seating sections – the Pullman and the Parlor areas. A large outdoor viewing platform is exclusively available to those who choose this class. An an attendant and a cash bar are on this car.
