One of Southwest Colorado’s biggest attractions is the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The coal-powered train takes you back in time, winding riverside through canyons in the rugged San Juan Mountains. In addition to their frequent trips to Cascade Canyon and Silverton, the railroad hosts special themed trips year round, celebrating everything from beer and wine, to blues and Santa Clause.
Here are some of our favorite annual events on-board the train:
The Peanuts™ Easter Beagle Express features three holiday decorated cars, along with crafts, games and prizes catered to the whole family. Other highlights include live music, a reading of “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown”, and photo opportunities with one of the Peanuts™ characters. Afterward there’s an Easter Egg Hunt at the railroad museum.
