Buck's Livery Riding
Durango, CO
Buck's Livery has approx. 30 gentle mountain horses. All rides are in the San Juan Mountains. Guests have expressed that this is the most beautiful trail ride they have ever been on. Weight linit is 220 pounds. Children 3 years or younger may be doubled with small adults only. The dinner ride is the most popular adventure. Enjoy a rib-eye or grilled chicken breast, potatoes, beans, coleslaw, hot sourdouugh bread and lemonade with the Buck's Livery gang.

This one hour ride is just a tease for the rides that are available in the spectacular San Juan Mountains with Buck's Livery. At an elevation of 8,900 feet you will be guided through the beautiful Purgatory Resort area on the back of a gentle horse or mule, selected just for you, by our experienced wranglers. Aspen groves,beaver ponds, clear mountain streams, incredible mountain views and towering pine trees will be some of the sights you will see. Children must be 6 years of age to ride. No double rides allowed - Maximum weight allowed 220 pounds per horse.
2 Hour Private Ride -
Special 2 hour private rides available for any level of riders - Many people prefer to ride by themselves or their family. Must be at least 6 years old to ride. Maximum weight allowed 230 pounds per horse.
2 Hour Ride - 11am
The two hour ride will definitely give you a taste for the area. This ride is an extension of the one hour ride. Off the beaten path and further into the San Juans, you will revel in the cool crisp mountain air as you ride through this woodsy wonderland- No double rides allowed - Must be at least 6 years old to ride. Maximum weight allowed 220 pounds per horse.

All Day Ride - 8am
The all day rides can be customized to the area you wish to see. From Buck's Livery we can take you down the Cascade Canyon, over a footbridge and across the Animas River to view the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge train. We can take you up Cascade Creek or Engineer Mountain where the rest of the world will seem forever away. And did we mention the views? Depending on the time of year... you will see fields filled with wildflowers....golden aspens.....enormous 100 year old pine trees.....deer or elk....high mountain lakes that are filled with trout and of course those majestic San Juan mountains. All of this and more will be enjoyed on the back of your trusty steed. The all day rides are for experienced riders. All day ride departs at 8am. Bring your lunch. No double rides allowed - Must be at least 6 years old to ride. Maximum weight allowed 230 pounds per horse.

Elk or Deer Hunts - License #446
Deluxe Guided Elk Hunts - Ratio of guides to hunters. 1 guide for every 2 hunters.
The deluxe camps are in section 74 and 75 in the San Juan National forest. The camps include tents, packing, 3 meals a day, riding horses, experienced guides and game dressed and packed. Arrangements for game to be delivered to a meat processor are also available. Hunters must be in good physical condition.
5 Day Hunt
Fishing Ride
For an all day adventure we can take you to a high mountain stream in an hour and a half on horseback. We will drop you off to spend the day fishing and relaxing. We come back to pick you up later that afternoon. It's a great way to reconnect and reflect. The perfect father/son or father/daughter day! Fishing gear NOT supplied.
Half Day Ride 1 of 2 - Departs 12:30pm
A favorite ride of the Buck's Livery regular riders. This 3 and a half to 4 hour ride will depart at 12:30 p.m. Down switchbacks and through immense aspen groves, you will arrive at scenic overlooks that truly take your breath away. The ride meanders near a high mountain lake and ultimately arrives near Cascade Creek. Bring your camera! No double rides allowed - Must be at least 6 years old to ride. Maximum weight allowed 230 pounds per horse.
2 of 2 - Departs 8:30am
Half Day ride departs at 8:30am returns at 1pm. A favorite ride of the Buck's Livery regular riders. This 3 and a half to 4 hour ride will depart at 8:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. Down switchbacks and through immense aspen groves, you will arrive at scenic overlooks that truly take your breath away. Pack to Your Personal Camp
If you have a favorite area that you hunt, we will pack your equipment in and out of your camp. We will also pack your game. Rates vary depending on the location and the amount of equipment to be packed.
This does not include riding horses.

1 hour ride with chuckwagon dinner. These rides depart at 5:00 p.m. After a one hour ride you will come back to the Buck's Livery lakeside cookout area for a hearty western meal. Dinner is served by your wranglers and includes flatiron steaks or grilled lemon chicken with cowboy beans, coleslaw, potatoes and sourdough bread and lemonade to drink. Minimum 4 person.
