One Day Upper Animas (16yrs+) - Train Included
This classic trip includes a shuttle on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad into the heart of the largest wilderness area in the state of Colorado, the Weminuche. The snow capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains will provide breathtaking views as you paddle the legendary Upper Animas. Minimum of 6 rafters required to complete trip and guests must be at least 16 years of age. Becuase this is a high adventure trip, guests need to arrive at Mountain Water's by 5pm the night before their raft trip and will need to complete a "fitness test" in order to ensure level of ability.
Piedra Lower Box Trip
A Great One Day Class IV Trip:
This sparkling waterway, between Durango and Pagosa Springs, is currently under consideration for inclusion into the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. The surrounding forests are filled with trophy mule deer, elk, black bear, the endangered peregrine falcon, eagles and the playful river otter.
We run an 11-mile section. The Piedra is small but quite lively. It is not as difficult as the Upper Animas but this is still a trip for experienced boaters because of the steep drops, cold water and isolation of the box canyons.
Raft and Rail - Adult - 8:45am Raft Trip Rockwood Gorge One Day Trip
Hike seven spectacular miles down the Purgatory trail into Cascade Canyon (there is no train ride for this trip). The Upper Animas River below the Tacoma take-out is a little-known gem usually reserved for hardcore kayakers. In mid-summer, with the water volume decreasing, we take paddle rafts down through the Rockwood Gorge with expert guides and experienced rafters. If you've already done the tourist thing on other rivers, step up to the Gorge for a thrill!
Three Day Upper Animas Trip (16yrs+)
A 3-day trip is available where we layover in Needleton, a beautiful and remote section of the Weminuche Wilderness. This extra day allows you time to hike, explore, fish or just relax in the largest wilderness area in Colorado. Minimum of 6 rafters required to complete trip and guests must be at least 16 years of age. Becuase this is a high adventure trip, guests need to arrive at Mountain Water's by 5pm the night before their raft trip and will need to complete a "fitness test" in order to ensure level of ability.
Two Day Upper Animas Trip (16yrs+)
Our normal 2-day trip includes a shuttle from Durango, catarafts and self bailing rafts, experienced guides, deluxe meals, and technical gear. After the trip, hike out to Haviland Lake (1.5 hours hike). Minimum of 6 rafters required to complete trip and guests must be at least 16 years of age. Becuase this is a high adventure trip, guests need to arrive at Mountain Water's by 5pm the night before their raft trip and will need to complete a "fitness test" in order to ensure level of ability.

Upper Animas: 100% refund for cancellations of 60 days or more, 50% refund for cancellations of 45-59 days, no refund for cancellations made within 45 days prior to trip date.
