GET READY - IT'S COMING...THE 2008 GATHER
The Will James Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the works and memory of a great western author and artist, Will James.
The 2008 Gather of the Will James Society will be held in Durango, Colorado, October 2nd through the 5th, 2008.
We have secured 50 lodging rooms in Durango for our Gathering to select from and a block of seats for our ride on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Please note that all room and activity blocks will be released by September 1st, 2008 so please make sure to make your arrangements before then. Here is our list of events so far:
Thursday:
Susan Anderson, Director of Durango Cultural Art Center, will be hosting a reception for the Will James Society in the evening. We are lining up Mike Leonard to sing and read some cowboy poetry for us there.
Friday:
We’ll have our banquet in the evening followed by our annual fund raiser auction, of course.
Saturday:
We’re looking forward to a whole crowd of attendees to join us in taking the famous “Silverton Express” train ride through the mountains and canyons from Durango to Silverton, Colorado.
The train ride is really a blast. The scenery will be especially awesome in October with the gorgeous fall colors. For those of you too squeamish for that adventure, there will be a parade you can attend on Saturday morning instead. However, you’ll be missing a great time with us on the train!
We hope to see a big turn out at this Gather including the Will James members from Canada coming down to join in the fun. One thing you have to admit, the Gatherer's of the Will James Society really get everyone to travel around the country a lot. Right? We hope you all will consider your attendance at our Will James Gathers your vacation destination of the year…Every Year! See y’all there.
