This weekend, the fall colors will most likely be peaking in Silverton, CO.  I'm super excited to ride the train with my family to soak in nature's splendor!  Even after living here for over 12 years, I continue to be awestruck by the beauty in the Four Corners area.  Not only are the views breathtaking  in every direction, but the many activities for families and outdoor enthusiasts keep us active and excited about life! Last weekend, our good friends from back East came to visit!  Friday night was spent catching up at our favorite restaurant, El Moro, followed by window…

It’s been a wild ride folks, but after 44 years living and working in Durango, and three and a half years working for Gateway Reservations, my family and I are off to explore other horizons.  As my soon-to-be former boss Bruce Moss says, “Living the Dream.” Tomorrow is my last day here at Gateway, and it is a bitter sweet moment for me. Not only will I miss the great people I work with, but all of the fantastic activities that I will not have at my door step.  The Durango & Silverton Railroad, riding through some of the most…

Rex2 Hey Durango! The Fair Has Arrived!

By | Vacation Planning | No Comments
I love all the events at the fair, however I mostly love the food! Where else can you get away with eating curly fries smothered in cheese sauce and green chili with a side of half a turkey leg? Lets not forget all the animals! The beautiful, and can I say "well groomed" cows, the just washed look of the rabbits and roosters, the soft and fuzzy new born lambs. I am always in awe of the 4H exhibits; the prize winning vegetables, and the arts & crafts.  These kids are amazing to say the least. The fair starts TODAY,…

Doesn't this look refreshing? There is nothing like ending a hot summer day with a exhilarating raft trip on our famous and beautiful Animas River.  My daughter and I hooked up with Durango Rivertrippers yesterday and had the best time ever.  Our guide was very professional, knowledgeable, and funny. The family we rode with were visiting from Oklahoma and had not been to the mountains before, let alone on a river rafting trip. After learning I am a life-long local and work for Gateway Reservations, they had all kinds of questions on other activities they could enjoy while visiting our…
