Boarding passes reflect your departure times out of your departing station, and arrival times into Glenwood Springs. Plan to arrive about 30 minutes prior to your departure time if you are carrying on your bags.  If you plan to check your bags, please arrive 60 minutes prior to your departure time.  And, don’t forget to allow enough time for parking. You may want to check the real-time status of the train before you head to the station.

  • Coach seats are not assigned. You may choose where to sit.
  • Most passengers ride in the upper level for a panoramic view of the scenery

  • Comfortable seats allow you stretch out and recline
  • There is a fold down tray, individual reading light and 120v electric outlets at your seat

California Zephyr Lounge Car:

  • In addition to your coach seats, all ticketed passengers have access to the lounge car on a fLounge Carirst-come, first-serve basis.
  • The lounge car has great views from its panoramic windows, and comfortable seats as well as table and chair style seating.
  • There is no formal limit as to the amount of time you spend in this car, but train attendants may ask you to give up your seats to other passengers waiting.
  • You may take snacks and drinks to the lounge car.
  • You may not “save” seats for others in the lounge car.
  • Get there early before the seats and tables fill up.

Food & Beverage Options on Amtrak:

  • Café service is available to all passengers and is available from early morning until late at night. The Café provides a variety of meals, snacks, and beverages for purchase. Menus are updated regularly, so selections and prices are subject to change.
  • Dining car service is now provided for customers traveling in private rooms/sleeper cars only.
  • You may bring your own food and beverages onboard for consumption at your seat or to the Sightseer Lounge in the upper level. (Your own private stock of alcoholic beverages cannot be consumed in any public area and can only be consumed in private rooms/sleeping cars.)


  • Tickets are non-transferable.
  • Changes to your itinerary may affect your fare. Refund and exchange restrictions and penalties for failure to cancel unwanted travel may apply. If your travel plans change, contact us before departure to change your reservation.
  • If you do not board your train, your entire reservation from that point will be canceled. If you board a different train without notifying us, you will have to pay for it separately; the conductor cannot apply the money paid for your prior reservation.
  • Summary of Terms and Conditions: Ticket valid for carriage or refund (subject to the refund rules of the fare purchased) for twelve months after day of issue unless otherwise specified.
  • Amtrak tickets may only be sold or issued by Amtrak or an authorized travel agent/tour operator. Tickets sold or issued by an unauthorized third party will be voided by Amtrak.
  • This ticket is a contract of carriage which includes specific terms and conditions and a binding arbitration agreement between Amtrak and the ticket holder.

Carry-On Baggage:

  • Each passenger may bring 2 carry-on bags and 2 personal items free of charge.
  • Carry-on Bags not to exceed 50 lbs. (23 kg) and 28 x 22 x 14 inches each.
  • Personal items not to exceed 25 lbs. (12 kg) and 14 x 11 x 7 inches each.
  • Excess bags: A $20 excess baggage fee will be charged for each carry-on and personal item above the quantity and size limits.
  • Passengers traveling with infants under the age of two may bring an additional infant item onboard (stroller, diaper bag), which does not count toward the carry-on baggage or personal item limit.
  • Carry-on and personal items must be kept with you, stored in overhead racks, under seats or designated baggage areas. Do not store items in empty seats, aisles, vestibules, or other areas where they may cause annoyance to other passengers or present a safety hazard.

Checked Baggage:

  • If checking in baggage, please arrive at the station about one hour prior to your scheduled departure time.
  • Each passenger can check two bags free of charge. Not all trains or locations are equipped to handle checked baggage.
  • Checked bags not to exceed 50 lbs. (23 kg) and 75 linear inches each.
  • 2 additional checked bags are allowed: $20 each
  • Oversized baggage (76-100 linear inches): $20 each. Overweight bags must be repacked to under 50 lbs. Linear inches = length + width + height
  • Upon check in with Amtrak, ask where you are to bring your baggage that you want to check in.

COVID-19 Travel:

  • Amtrak passengers and employees are no longer required to wear masks while on board trains or in stations.
  • Masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19.
  • Anyone needing or choosing to wear a mask is encouraged to do so.
  • Do not travel when you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or when you meet public  health criteria for quarantine.
  • Please complete your pre-trip COVID-19 check within 24 hours of departure.
