Enjoy a scenic journey across Colorado on the Amtrak from Denver to Grand Junction and experience two of the most remarkable national parks in North America. The scenery of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks is sure to take your breath away. This 3-day getaway includes your roundtrip Amtrak ride, two nights lodging, and a full-day tour of three incredible destinations.
Arches National Park, just north of Moab, Utah, is bordered by the Colorado River and is known as the site of more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches. Canyonlands National Park is known for its dramatic desert landscape, immense vistas, towering rock pinnacles and Native American cave paintings.

Itinerary
Day 1 Amtrak Train Ride on the California Zephyr in coach seating (upgrades available) Depart Denver’s Union Station at 8:05am; Arrive Grand Junction, CO at 4:00pm. Check into Grand Vista Hotel.
Day 2 Depart Grand Junction hotel at 7am for three park sightseeing tour (Arches, Canyonlands, and Dead Horse Point). Approx. 9 hrs.**
Day 3 Check out of Grand Vista Hotel. Amtrak departs Grand Junction, CO, at 10:23am; Arrive Denver’s Union Station at 6:38pm

Tour Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse StatePark. Travel to the parks via Scenic Byway UT-128 along the Colorado River with majestic rock walls towering above. Short stops to Postcard Point and Fisher Valley allow for great views of Fisher Towers, Fisher Mesa and Castle Rock, including many other buttes, mesas and towering rock formations. At Arches National Park you’ll see amazing sandstone arches along with numerous pinnacles, spires, balanced rocks and rock fins.

Tour will continue from Arches to Dead Horse Point along scenic byway UT-313, meandering through Red Rock country with views of Monitor Butte and the La Sal Mountains. Enjoy panoramic views of Canyonlands from this high plateau 2,000 feet above Colorado River, overlooking sculpted pinnacles and buttes. Upon arrival at Dead Horse Point, optional lunch at Pony Express Coffee Shop, which offers hot/cold beverages, fruit smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, baked goods and ice cream.
- Enjoy the views from 8 overlooks connected by 7 miles of easy walking trails.
- Drive to Dead Horse Point Overlook for panoramic views of Canyonlands.
From Dead Horse Point, you will continue along the mesa to Utah’s largest national park, Canyonlands National Park, to the Island in the Sky Region. Capture many of the most spectacular views of canyon country from numerous pull outs and short walks along the paved scenic route atop the massive 1,500-foot mesa. See areas such as:

- Shafer Canyon Overlook
After finishing the loop in Canyonlands, you will head back to your Grand Junction hotel, enjoying views of the remote Book Cliffs along the way.
