The morning of your tour, enjoy breakfast on your own in Durango. Then meet in front of the Durango Train Depot at 9:00 AM for your motor coach bus ride to Silverton, which departs at 9:30 AM and arrives Silverton at 11:00 AM. Your guide will meet you at the depot, and you will soon be on your 2.5-hour ATV tour.
The route takes you along an original train roadbed beside the Animas River. Eat a picnic lunch on route, provided by San Juan Backcountry, with the river and mountains as welcomed company. Don't forget your binoculars, camera and plenty of battery power for your photos. Your tour guide knows this area well and may suggest other locations and options depending on conditions.
If it permits, you may travel to one of the scenic gulches in the area, which feature a sea of colors from various mountain wildflowers. After exploring the backcountry, you will arrive back to Silverton in time for the 2:30 PM departure on the D&SNG Railroad steam train. Arrive Durango at 6:00 PM in time for a lovely dinner and night on the town. (Depending on the date, you may be able to take the later 3:00 PM train, which arrives Durango at 6:30 PM - please specify your preference when booking this package).
