Over The Hill Outfitters

Just 15 minutes east of Durango

Offering 1- and 2-hour horseback rides on the 1000 acres of the Palmer Quarter Horse Ranch, located about 10 miles from downtown Durango. There are incredible views as you ride through valleys, up mountains, over ridges and along the Florida River, which passes through the ranch.

Buck’s Livery

North of Durango, across from Purgatory Resort

Experienced wranglers help you explore the San Juan National Forest and the Cascade Canyon with your choice of a one-hour, two hour, private ride or pony ride for kids under 6 years. At Buck’s Livery, enjoy sunset rides, departing a 5pm, and return to a lakeside cookout for a hearty western meal of steak of chicken and delicious sides.

Rustlers Roost

Mancos, CO – located in the beautiful Mancos Valley next to Mesa Verde National Park

Choose from several high-desert rides at Rustlers Roost. If time is limited, go on their two-hour custom ride. For a longer ride, you must experience their Wild Horse and Cliff Dwelling Ride in the Ute Tribal Park. For more western fun, take part in a hay wagon ride and cowboy cookout located at their ranch headquarters.

Glenwood Adventure Company

Three hours west of Denver on I-70

Go on a 1-hour or 2-hour ride at the Sunlight Stables (at Sunlight Resort) with Glenwood Aventure Company. Or, experience western hospitality on Bair Ranch, a famous historic working ranch in the beautiful Glenwood Canyon along the Colorado River. Choose from a 1-hour or 2-hour ride or enjoy a sunset dinner horseback ride that includes a delicious western chuckwagon steak dinner with all the fixings, including dessert. What could be more Colorado than that? Horseback rides have a maximum weight limit of 270 lbs. and a minimum age of 7 years or older.
