Feel like you’ve been cooped up this winter? Tired of those long dark hours? That will change this weekend as we get to move our clocks ahead one hour for daylight saving time, which takes effect at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8th! Furthermore, spring is almost here and so is the warmer weather. According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, the spring equinox (also called the March equinox or the vernal equinox) falls on Thursday, March 19th this year. This event marks the astronomical first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night” - aequus (equal) and nox (night). On the equinox, the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the word.
